Year 5 Visit to Museum Of Wigan Life 2023

Year 5 visited the Museum of Wigan Life to take part in the Black Diamonds Workshop that looked at Coal Mining in the Wigan Borough as part of our History topic on Local History.

The children enjoyed an interactive workshop about the history of coal mining in Wigan Borough and had access to a range of artefacts and documents including archive images, maps, newspaper articles, safety equipment, clothing, and original mining tools which will help to deepen pupils’ knowledge and understanding of mining in the local area.

The children were excellent historians and their behaviour was outstanding throughout the entire visit.

Year 5 were great ambassadors for Lowton West, well done!
